Know the real appointment
The official appointment has 140 total questions.
NASAA’s current Series 65 outline identifies 130 scored questions and 10 unidentified pretest questions. Candidates receive 180 minutes and must answer at least 92 of the 130 scored questions correctly to pass.
NASAA and FINRA listed the fee as $187 when this page was reviewed. Fees and rules can change; verify the current sources before acting.
Exam credit is not registration
Series 65 does not use the Series 7 corequisite.
NASAA describes Series 65 as an investment adviser representative examination and does not identify Series 7 as its corequisite. An individual may open an enrollment window through FINRA; an associated candidate’s firm may instead use Form U4. Associated candidates should consult their firm before self-enrolling.
A passing result is not authority to advise
NASAA says passing Series 65 may satisfy only part of a jurisdiction’s investment adviser representative requirements. State registration, firm affiliation, applications, fees, checks, exemptions or waivers, and the activities performed can still control whether someone may conduct business.
Practice without false certainty
One complete form, two useful modes.
- Full 140: an appointment-length simulation with a 3:00:00 clock.
- Quick 10: a shorter mixed sprint for retrieval and mistake repair.
- Immediate rationales: connect the principle to a client or compliance decision.
- Mistake vault: keep missed and uncertain concepts available for later recall.
- Private local progress: practice stays on this device unless structured sync is explicitly connected.
Honest limit: this beta contains one original appointment-length Series 65 form. Repeating it can measure memory of the bank instead of fresh readiness. Use the current NASAA guide and additional independently reviewed materials.
First 130 questions
The scored blueprint balances knowledge and judgment.
The final 10 Role by Role items are transparent mixed-subject practice in the same number of positions as the official appointment’s unidentified pretest questions. They are not represented as psychometrically equivalent.
Study decisions in context
Do not split finance from fiduciary judgment.
- Start with the blueprint. Recommendation/strategy and laws/conduct together account for 78 of 130 scored questions.
- Pair products with client facts. Learn risk, tax, liquidity, time horizon, and cost features in the context of a recommendation.
- Explain calculations. A formula is not durable until you can say what the result means for a client or portfolio.
- Separate federal and state roles. Record who regulates whom, when registration is required, and what an exemption actually changes.
- Use full-length practice sparingly. Save one realistic three-hour block, then build the next study session from the missed decisions.
A Role by Role score is a study signal—not an official result, pass probability, accredited-investor status, employer assessment, or state registration.

Original practice—not NASAA exam content.
The questions are original Role by Role material mapped to NASAA’s current guide. They are not recalled, copied, or represented as official exam questions.
